Svetlana McGrath is originally from Minsk, Belarus, a small country in the middle of the eastern Europe. Svetlana has the heart of a teacher, and she has a passion to work with children and their families. She loves to see children bring joy, love, and hope to this world. Svetlana’s experience working with young generations started in the role of a nanny, summer camp teacher assistant, Sunday school teacher and a dance instructor.
Svetlana attended Belarusian State University of Physical Culture where she studied Physical Therapy and massage. After moving to the US in 2006, Svetlana continued her journey in studying Pediatric Medicine, Breastfeeding and Lactation, infant massage, intraoral therapy and rehabilitation and craniosacral therapy to be able to combine the best of the traditional and non-traditional medicine in her care model.
Svetlana has a Doctorate in Nursing Degree in Pediatric Specialty and for the last 10 years she has been providing care to infant patients and their parents in various settings: labor and delivery, post-partum, newborn nursery, pediatric units, NICU, and lactation outpatient clinics.
Additionally, Svetlana is an Internationally Board-Certified Lactation Consultant and a feeding issues specialist. She has been recognized as one of the leading specialists in tongue-tie evaluation and tongue-tie release/frenotomy procedures at Seattle Children’s hospital and successfully has performed more than 1000 procedures.
Svetlana attributes her expertise and knowledge in the field of newborn care and lactation to working alongside with her wonderful colleagues in Neonatology, Pediatrics and Lactation. Of course, she could not have done it without her husband and her two beautiful children who taught her how to breastfeed them all the way up to 2.5 years of life and how to see beauty in simple things.
Svetlana is very proud and honored to take care of you and your newborn angels.
